KYGN

Our latest project and fundraiser.
This love story begins in Tanzania Kilimanjaro Region…

What started as a small community project is now a registered school providing education, health care and safe house accommodation to some of the most disadvantaged children in Tanzania. KYGN is an NGO whose aim is to improve the opportunities of young girls in the Kilamanjaro Region.

Our love story

In 2012, Cameron visited Kilimanjaro Young Girls in Need (KYGN) in Tanzania. The school had been set up a few years before to help protect and educate some of the most vulnerable girls in the area. The girls were exposed to extreme poverty, neglect, abandonment, physical and sexual abuse. They also had minimal access to education to help improve their fates.

Over the years, KYGN has grown, it now cares for and educates 350 children! There is a safe house for 30-40 of the most vulnerable children to live in, where they feel safe and will grow up surrounded by love, away from abuse and poverty.

Last year, LWYW pledged to put KYGN’s nursery class through the entire primary school education.  David, Cameron & Simon are now pushing their fitness abilities and cycling from London to Paris this July; the cycle is over 500km across 4 gruelling days.

The aim is to raise funds to renovate/expand KYGN’s safe house, ensuring that the vulnerable children who spend their childhoods living there can at least have the most basic of comforts. The money raised will also go towards the necessary remedial works to the catfish pond and agricultural land to help turn KYGN into a sustainable enterprise, that also supports the local community.
